On Thursday 17 March Miss Haylock and the Wheatfields gymnastics team (Ruby P, Tyler M, Grace T, Macie C, Isabella P and Sophie M) attended the Level 3 School Games 'Opening Ceremony' at One Leisure St Ives.
This celebrated school sports competitions at primary and secondary school level and all of the teams present had come 1st or 2nd in their sport in a previous round.  (As previously reported, the Wheatfields gymnastics team came 1st in their first round competition on Tuesday 8 March, where we won the trophy!)
Following the Opening Ceremony, schools moved on to their respective venues for the next events - we went to the Huntingdon Gymnastics Club for the second round gymnastics competition.
The venue became alive with the sound of cheering and camaraderie as each school battled it out to become champions.  Each school represented one of the five School Sports Partnerships - Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough, South Cambs and Witchford.
Despite it being our first year at this level of competition, the Wheatfields team performed exceptionally well - each of our children had to perform indivdually, in front of judges and a large audience!  They were fantastic!  We finished in 3rd place (the highest Hunts School Sports Partnership placing) and received bronze medals - a first for Wheatfields Primary School!!
Miss Haylock was VERY proud of the children so congratulations to the whole team!
We would also like to say a HUGE thank you to parents for their help and support throughout, especially with changing training sessions and transport to and from events.
