9th June 2016
On Thursday 9 June Wheatfields celebrated the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a fantastic outdoor, Street Party style lunch!  The children chose whether to bring in their own packed lunch or have a hot dog packed lunch prepared by our brilliant catering team.
The dress code for the day was red, white and blue and there were crowns, placemats and bunting to get us in the party mood!  Music was played outside during the lunch and the children got into the spirit of things, waving flags from their tables whilst they ate.
We were really lucky with the weather and the sun shone for us throughout.  After the lunch, there was organised dancing on the playground and a brilliant time was had by all.
In addition to our street party, the children made a print of their hand or fingers in red, white or blue to put together a huge Union Jack.  This will be displayed in the hall.
Thank you to everyone for making this celebration so memorable for children and staff alike!
A special thank you to Mrs Guest and our School Council pupils for their great ideas and organisation of how we celebrated this special occasion.
