Norris Museum - Events:

Please see below and posters attached for details of the Norris Museum's upcoming October half term family activities and also a poster competition that they are currently running:

Drawn to St Ives – Poster Drawing Competition!

Enter from Saturday 20th September to Saturday 22nd November – winners will be announced on Saturday 29th November

As part of the Norris Museum’s exhibition celebrating artists of St Ives and Huntingdonshire, we’re inviting children to design a poster encouraging people to visit St Ives today – this could be for a holiday or a fun day trip.

Pop into the Norris Museum to see an original early 1900s holiday poster for St Ives – then let it inspire you to create your own! Think about what makes St Ives special – the river, the history, the countryside, the people, or your favourite local landmarks – and bring it to life in your own drawing.

Open to children aged 5–11 years (School Years 1–6).  There are two age categories: 5-7 year olds and 8-11 year olds, with one winner from each.  Posters must be hand-drawn and be the entrant’s own complete work. The original artwork must be handed in to the museum, along with a completed entry form by 4pm on Saturday 22nd November.

Winners will have their posters on display in the museum and earn themselves a beautiful 35 piece Derwent Academy drawing set: containing colour pencils, watercolour pencils, sketching pencils, sharpener, eraser, paint brush, and a drawing pad – all presented in an attractive wooden box.

Everyone who enters will receive a certificate as a thank you for taking part.

Entry forms available from the museum front desk or here:  https://www.norrismuseum.org.uk/visit/events/
